STEP1 Japan Entry

Narita Airport has Terminals 1, 2, and 3, and Haneda Airport has Terminals 2 and 3. The terminal you arrive at depends on the airline.

STEP2 Immigration Inspection
(1) Get residence card (Zairyu Card)

When you submit your Certificate of Eligibility, passport, and visa, you will be issued a “residence card” at the airport.
Since international students stay for the mid- to long-term, he/she will be issued a residence card.
While students are not required to carry his/her passport with him/her during stay in Japan, he/she must have his/her residence card with him/her.
Short-stay students do not have a residence card, so please carry his/her passport.

(2) Get Part-time Work Permit

Students who wish to work part-time can apply for his/her part-time work permit to the immigration inspector at the airport at the same time as their residence card. Then, students allow to work as part-time at max 28 hours/week.

* In case students don’t apply for his/her part-time work permit at the airport, he/she can apply it at the Immigration Bureau in jurisdiction.

Students will take orientation and placement test and get class schedule information.

The school can also assist with various procedures upon request.

(1) Move-in Procedures

Students need to submit his/her address at city/ward office where he/she lives.
The procedure must be carried out within 14 days of entering Japan.

(2) Issue National Health Insurance

Students’ National Health Insurance Card needs to be issued at city/ward office where he/she lives.
When students enroll in National Health Insurance (*), he/she will be issued National Health Insurance Card.

What is National Health Insurance?

If students enroll in the National Health Insurance and show his/her health insurance card when receiving medical treatment at a hospital, 70% of the treatment cost will be covered by the insurance, and he/she will only have to pay 30% of the out-of-pocket amount.
Students residing in Japan for more than three months MUST be required to enroll in the National Health Insurance.
This insurance only applies to the subscriber himself/herself.

* When you move, you will need to change your National Health Insurance along with the relocation procedure.

* National Health Insurance does not apply to injuries or illnesses during part-time work.

* National Health Insurance Card is a very important form of identification, just like a passport, residence card, or alien registration card.

* Also, students will need to show his/her health insurance card when applying for a change of status of residence and an application for extension of his/her period of stay.

STEP5 Open Bank Account

Students will open his/her bank account in order to do part-time job, extend visa, receive money from his/her sponsor, receive scholarship.

* When students return to his/her home country, please make sure to set your deposit balance to 0 and close his/her bank account.

* Please do not deposit or lend your residence card, insurance card, passbook, or bank card to others.
Do not give it to others for any reason. If you are abused by a criminal organization, you will become an accomplice and be severely punished.

When looking for a job in Japan, students need his/her own phone number.
In addition, it is very convenient because he/she will be asked for his/her contact information for various procedures necessary to live in Japan.

About Student Dormitory Rules & Regulations

  • Smoking is prohibited inside the dormitory. Smoking is not allowed in rooms or shared areas.
  • Please take of your shoes before entering the room (no shoes allowed inside).
  • Please refrain from making loud noises or causing disturbances.
  • Please dispose of garbage according to Chiba City regulations.
  • Pets are not allowed to be kept or brought into the dormitory.
  • Overnight stays or visits by external guests, including friends or partners, who are not dormitory residents are prohibited.
  • Once a month, school staff will visit the domitories to check their condition (hygiene, etc.).

  1. Key Replacement
    For the safety of all residents, we replace the locks before new residents move in.
    This is a security measure, and we take the same measures in our dormitories.
  2. Fire Insurance
    This insurance is designed to protect in the event of unexpected accidents such as fire, water leaks, or natural disasters.
    It is mandatory to have this insurance to protect buildings, rooms, and household belongings.
  3. Cleaning Fees
    When moving out, it is necessary to restore the room to its original condition before moving in.
    Therefore, cleaning costs by a professional cleaning company will be charged in initial costs.
    In many cases, cleaning by yourself is considered insufficient, and this is a widely established custom in Japan.
Costs from the third month

Dormitory fees (rent) must be paid by the 10th of the previous month.
(Example: July dormitory fees → payment due by June 10)

If you wish to move into the student dormitory, please an inquiry by email.
We may not be able to accommodate your request if the dormitory request deadline has passed or if there are no vacancies in the student dormitory.

About part-time jobs

Students with a status of residence of “Student” can work part-time for up to 28 hours a week if he/she gets permission to engage in activities outside the status of residence after entering Japan.

We have part-time job opportunities. We will hear about students’ needs, match it with job opportunities, and make appointments for his/her interviews.

During long vacations such as summer break, students can work up to 40 hours/week if submitting a certificate of long vacation issued by our school to his/her part-time employer.

If you work part-time or exceed the stipulated hours without obtaining permission to engage in activities outside the status of residence, you will be in violation of activities outside the status of residence and will not be able to continue your study abroad life in Japan.
In addition, it is prohibited to work in pachinko parlors and sex shops. (Including on-site cleaning and washing areas)
